You were promoted for the work. Nobody taught you the job that came with it.
Orgatc works with experienced professionals who now have to lead a team, be heard where budgets are decided, and plan a career instead of reacting to it. Twenty-five weeks, thirteen one-to-one sessions, and five written checkpoints against the plan you set in week one.
The intro call decides which one, and it is rarely the one people arrive expecting. Tracks can be taken on their own or in sequence, and every one of them ends with a written plan you can keep running without us.
Leadership skills
For people who moved from doing the work to directing it, and found out the hard way that they are two different jobs.
Twenty-five weeks, because habits do not change in a weekend
A two-day workshop is enough to understand an idea. For that idea to change how you run a Monday-morning meeting, it has to be repeated, got wrong, and corrected over several months.
13one-to-one sessions of 60 minutes
Orgatc started in Halifax working with professionals from the sectors that keep this city running — the port and logistics, public administration, financial services, health, and the technology firms that have grown up around the universities. In most of them the promotion arrives on the strength of the craft: whoever does the work best ends up directing the people who do it. Nobody taught them how, and the team pays for the trial and error.
That is why the program runs twenty-five weeks, with five formal checkpoints against the plan agreed in week one. Thirteen one-to-one sessions with the same coach, fifty exercises worked through on your own files, and a written summary after every session. Most of the people we work with are 35 and over: newly appointed managers, experienced middle managers, and specialists who have just been given a team.
A free 45-minute intro call
Long enough to work out whether the program fits. Sometimes we conclude that it does not, and we say so on the call.
The same coach for all 25 weeks
No internal handovers halfway through and no rotating pool. Whoever takes your intro call is who you work with.
Hours that fit a working week
Early mornings, lunch hours or after 5 p.m. Atlantic Time, and by video call if you are outside the municipality.

How we work
Six commitments you can check
None of them promises anything about your career, because that is not ours to decide. They describe how the program is delivered, and you can verify every one of them from the first week.
01
Objectives you can verify
In week one we agree two or three objectives together with a concrete way to check each of them. If an objective cannot be checked, it gets rewritten until it can. That sheet is what we read at every checkpoint.
02
Your own files are the material
The fifty exercises are worked through on what is actually in front of you: the meeting that lost the thread, the report nobody read, the person on the team who is not delivering. We do not use invented case studies.
03
The material stays yours
We write the exercises and templates ourselves, and you leave with them as editable PDFs. You do not need a subscription to any platform to open them again in two years' time.
04
A reply within one business day
Between sessions you can write when something comes up that will not wait a fortnight. We answer by the end of the next business day, Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 Atlantic Time, and those messages are not billed separately.
05
Confidentiality by contract
We sign a confidentiality agreement at the start. We do not contact your employer, we do not publish your name, and we do not use anything discussed as an example without your written permission.
06
Sometimes we say no
If the intro call makes clear that what you need is something else — or that you can sort it out on your own — we say so there and charge nothing. A calendar full of badly matched clients does nobody any good.

What people bring us
Three situations you may recognise
So you can place yourself before you write to us: what each person arrives with, what gets worked on across the program, and what it closes with. If one of them sounds like your week, that is the conversation worth having on the intro call.

They gave me the department eight months ago and I am still patching holes. When something goes wrong I end up doing it myself, and then there is no time left for the part they actually promoted me to do.
Arrives withA recent promotion, a stretched working day, and a hand on every task the team touches.
We work onDelegating by level of autonomy, the shape of a useful one-to-one, and written rules about what gets reviewed and what does not.
Closes withQuality standards agreed in writing with the team, and a week with predictable hours.

I put the budget request together with every number in it, and in the meeting it gets cut without discussion. They tell me it is not the right time, and then another unit gets exactly what it asked for.
Arrives withMore than enough technical command, and proposals that stall where resources are allocated.
We work onThe structure of a proposal, reading who decides and what they need to hear, and rehearsing the presentation before the real meeting.
Closes withA request rewritten with the assumptions and risks visible, and the discussion prepared in advance.

I have been offered a management role in Toronto. More money, a much bigger team, and three weeks to answer. My life is set up here, and I have no idea how to weigh those two things against each other.
Arrives withA career decision on a short clock and no criteria of their own to judge it by.
We work onA competency map for each role, three-year objectives, weighted criteria, and preparation for the compensation conversation.
Closes withA decision that can be explained, with the risks written down, instead of a hunch with a deadline attached.
The three situations in this section are illustrative examples of the method, written by Orgatc from the questions we hear most often on intro calls. They are not client testimonials, they do not describe any individual, and they do not represent guaranteed results.
Frequently asked
What is worth knowing before you start
If something is still unclear, write to us anyway — we answer questions whether or not anything has been signed.
One-to-one coaching with structured material behind it. There are no live classes with a cohort and no pre-recorded video library: there are 60-minute sessions with a coach assigned to you, exercises you work through between sessions, and a written summary after each one. What gets covered is ordered around what you bring to the intro call, not a fixed syllabus everyone receives.
No — and be wary of anyone who does. Those decisions are made by your employer or by whoever is interviewing you, and they turn on factors neither of us controls. What we do guarantee is the service: the number of sessions, the material, the response times, and a full refund if within the first seven days you decide the program is not for you. Orgatc is not an employment agency and does not place candidates with employers.
Yes — Foundation deals with one specific front in a few weeks, and sometimes that is exactly what is needed. But how you delegate, how you present, and how you decide are habits, and a habit has to be repeated and corrected several times before it holds. If what you need is narrow, we will tell you on the intro call rather than sell you twenty-five weeks.
Whichever suits you, and you can switch between them within the same program. The office at 1660 Hollis Street sees people by appointment, Monday to Friday 9:00–17:00 Atlantic Time, and we also work by video call with clients elsewhere in Nova Scotia, across Canada, and in other time zones. Online sessions use the same material and run the same length; only the channel changes.
Monthly plans are billed in advance by credit card or e-transfer, and you receive an invoice with applicable taxes shown. There is no minimum term: tell us before the current month closes and the next one is not charged. The annual option is billed once up front with the 30 % discount applied, and if you cancel partway through, the unused portion is refunded on a pro-rata basis as set out in the Terms & Conditions.
Would you rather ask out loud?
The intro call runs 45 minutes, costs nothing, and exists to work out which track fits. If none of them does, we tell you on the call.
Each coach takes a limited number of clients per intake so the session calendar actually holds. If you want to start in the next one, it is worth booking the intro call about two weeks ahead.
7-day refund guaranteeIf in the first week you decide it is not for you, we refund the amount paid in full.
